ANY-maze Help > The ANY-maze reference > The Protocol page > The elements of a protocol > Testing > Stages > Creating stage end rules > Stage end rules wizard : Time limit Stage end rules wizard : Time limit
In this step, you can specify whether the event you've chosen has to occur within a certain amount of time of the start of the test. This is commonly the case in training stages, where you're training the animal to perform a certain task within a time limit - perhaps to find the island zone in a water-maze within 30 seconds. If you specify that there is a time limit, then a field will appear which you can use to specify the actual value. Here you can use any of the units: d (days), h (hours), min or m (minutes), or s (seconds). You can mix units and also specify decimal values. So, for example, the period of eight and a half minutes could be entered as '8.5min' or as '8min 30s'. If you don't specify any units, then seconds will be assumed. You can enter any value from 1 second to 24 hours.
