Track plot background settings

Introduction

The Track plot background settings window is used to set the background colour of track plots and to adjust how the apparatus map is drawn.

Figure 1. In this example, the background colour of the plot has been set to purple and the apparatus map has been excluded.

Background colour

The background colour is used to fill the area inside the apparatus borders of a track plot (when the background is set to A plain background.) You can change the colour simply by clicking on the colour swatch and choosing from the colour picker pop-up which opens - see figure 1.

Figure 1. You can change the Background colour of the area inside the apparatus by clicking on the colour swatch.

There are no rules about the colour you use, although you will usually want to make sure it will contrast with the colour you are using for the track.

Apparatus map

The Apparatus map tab of the Track plot background settings window is used to choose whether the apparatus map should be drawn over the background. Note that if it is not drawn, the area inside the apparatus will still be filled with the background colour.

Figure 2. You can exclude the apparatus map completely from the track plot, or adjust the colours used to draw it.

If the apparatus map is being drawn, then the colours used to draw the lines of the apparatus map and any grid lines can also be adjusted. Again, there are no rules about this, what you draw and the colours you use are just a case of personal preference.
