Using video files with ANY-maze

Introduction

As well as tracking animals in live video pictures from a camera, ANY-maze can also track in pre-recorded video files.

Recording and playing ANY-maze format videos

ANY-maze can be used to record videos of tests, either automatically while a live test is running, or manually using the Video page. In either case, the video will be recorded in ANY-maze's own video format (which creates .szv files). The resulting files can simply be played back by:

Selecting them in a video source
Selecting them on the Tests page (by selecting the drop-down arrow at the right-hand side of the Test window tool bar - this is usually next to the fil ename of the currently-playing video).
Selecting them on the Video page

Playing videos recorded elsewhere

Nowadays, there are many different video formats (such as AVI, MPG, WMV, etc.) which can be used to record video files. ANY-maze can play most formats, provided the correct video codec is installed.

The simplest way to check whether a video will play in ANY-maze is to switch to the Video page and select Browse for a video file in the list of the left. This will open a standard Windows open file window, where you can select the file you want play. If ANY-maze is able to play the file, then the video will be displayed on the right-hand side of the page.

The most common reason for a video not to play is because your computer does not have the required codec installed - see the Video codecs topic for information about installing additional codecs on your machine.
