Specifying what to plot on a heat map

In brief

You should select what the heat should plot from the drop list, only those heat maps relevant to your protocol will be listed.

Details

Heat maps can be plotted for any of the following:

The position of the animal's centre point
The position of the animal's head
The locations where the animal exhibited freezing behaviour
The locations where the animal was immobile
The locations where the animal was mobile
The locations where the animal was active
The locations where the animal reared
The locations where the animal exhibited a behaviour being scored using a key
The locations where the animal was when an input or an output was active
The locations where the animal was when a virtual switch was active

Of course, not all of these will be available in all tests, for example, if your protocol is not set to detect immobility then you won't see the options for mobile and immobile.

Note that for all of the above, with the exception of The position of the animal's head, the animal's location is considered to be the locations of its centre point.

Heat map settings

Selecting the Settings button opens the Heat map background settings window, which can be used to alter the colours used by the heat map and to adjust how the apparatus map is drawn.
