The ANY-maze Optogenetics interface output ports

Introduction

The ANY-maze Optogenetics interface has four output ports, each of which can be configured either as a laser controller output or as a TTL output.

Connecting to the ports

The output ports use BNC connectors with a pin-out of:

 TipSignal
 ShieldGND

By default the outputs are active high, but this can be changed in the configuration window.

Using the ports

To use a port that's configured as a laser controller, you will need to include a laser controller in your protocol. This is described in detail here. To use a port that's configured as a TTL output, you will need to include an On/off output in your protocol. In either case, you may also want to include a procedure to actually control when in the test the laser or TTL output turns on.

Optogenetic interface port specification:

Laser controller port:

 Output pulse frequency0.01Hz to 10KHz
Duty cycle1% to 99% (100% when output is set to 'continuous')
 Activation duration100µs to 100s
 Timing accuracy±100ns
 Analogue output range0.02V – 5V
 Analogue output resolution0.02V
 Analogue output accuracy±0.03V

TTL output port:

 High level output5V
 Low level output0V
