Sensor measures

ANY-maze has been designed to be extended, and we'll be delighted to add any new measures you might find useful, for free! Just contact ANY-maze Support.

ANY-maze will score the following measures for a sensor:

 Initial value
 Post test value
 Average value
 Maximum value
 Minimum value
 Change

Initial value

DescriptionThe sensor's value at the start of the test.
Calculation methodDepends on how the sensor is configured; either the last value reported by the sensor prior to the start of the test (this will typically be read less than 1 second before the start of the test), or the value read from the sensor when the sensor's key was pressed before the test started.
Analysis in zonesThis value is not available within zones.
Analysis across timeThis measure cannot be analysed across time.
UnitsDepends on the sensor (lux, °C, dB, grams or %)
NotesThis is the only measure that is reported when a sensor is set to be read at the test start. When a sensor is set to report the change in its value during a test, this measure is NOT reported (as it would always be 0).

Post test value

DescriptionThe sensor's value read after the test had ended.
Calculation methodThe sensor's value read by pressing the sensor's key after the test had ended.
Analysis in zonesThis value is not available within zones.
Analysis across timeThis measure cannot be analysed across time.
UnitsDepends on the sensor (lux, °C, dB, grams or %)
NotesThis measure is only reported when the sensor is set to be read post test when its key is pressed.

Average value

DescriptionReports the average value reported by the sensor.
Calculation methodSimple average of the values reported by the sensor during the test.
Analysis in zonesAverage of the values reported while the animal was in the zone.
Analysis across timeThis measure can be analysed across time. The result is the average of the values reported during the time period.
UnitsDepends on the sensor (lux, °C, dB, grams or %)
NotesThis measure is only reported when a sensor is set to be read continuously throughout a test.

Maximum value

DescriptionReports the maximum value reported by the sensor.
Calculation methodThe largest value reported by the sensor during the test.
Analysis in zonesThe largest value reported while the animal was in the zone.
Analysis across timeThis measure can be analysed across time. The result is the largest of the values reported during the time period.
UnitsDepends on the sensor (lux, °C, dB, grams or %)
NotesThis measure is only reported when a sensor is set to be read continuously throughout a test.

Minimum value

DescriptionReports the minimum value reported by the sensor.
Calculation methodThe smallest value reported by the sensor during the test.
Analysis in zonesThe smallest value reported while the animal was in the zone.
Analysis across timeThis measure can be analysed across time. The result is the smallest of the values reported during the time period.
UnitsDepends on the sensor (lux, °C, dB, grams or %)
NotesThis measure is only reported when a sensor is set to be read continuously throughout a test.

Change

DescriptionReports the change in the sensor's value relative to the value at the start of the test.
Calculation methodThe first value recorded in the test is subtracted from the last value recorded in the test.
Analysis in zonesThis value is not available within zones.
Analysis across timeThis measure can be analysed across time (see notes). The result is the value at the start of the time period subtracted from the last value recorded in the time period.
UnitsDepends on the sensor (lux, °C, dB, grams or %)
NotesThis measure is only reported when a sensor is set to be read continuously throughout a test or is set to be read after the test when the sensor's key is pressed. If the sensor is not set to be read continuously, then analysis across time is not possible.
